Occupation: Gofer for the film crew

Ability and Talent: Empath
Unassuming, blond and short, Emily uses her appearance to catch people off guard. Standing just at 5’ tall with large blue eyes graced with a curious almond shape she stares unnervingly at people as if she’s trying to decide just what to do with them. Despite the way her eyes seem to follow people, there are those that might find her more quirky than creepy. With her long blonde hair and lightly tanned skin she looks like your everyday normal eighteen year old girl, and she is for the most part. Being an Empath however does rather push her into the “abnormal” category.
Emily likes to wear bright, fascinating colors and cute dresses. She has been known to wear pants but always pairs them with a trendy top. There is an oddity however; she always seems to end up dirty by the end of the day. It’s odd that someone who takes so much time with her appearance in the morning would allow herself to become so disheveled by the afternoon. The extent of her grunginess is often so bad that she has to toss her clothing out because the stains won’t come out with regular washing. Thankfully she comes from a family with money so she doesn’t necessarily have to worry about the expense of clothing. At least she doesn’t if she’s at home. Out on the road however she has to make a concerted effort not to dirty her small store of clothing that she brings with her in her saddle bags.
It is often commented by those who know her that Emily Cooper is a bit “mad”. Indeed she has been known to talk to herself and even harbors dreams of taking over the world with an army of animated stuffed teddy bears and yes, sometimes she does laugh manically for apparently no reason, but that doesn’t mean she’s “a bit mad” it means that sometimes she’s just completely nuts. Mostly she inhabits one of two states and could very well claim to have multiple personalities. However she simply has two frames of mind, a normal frame and her “abnormal” frame. The normal frame dominates most of her life as she is mostly calm, quiet and rather intelligent. But there are times, and they are becoming frighteningly more frequent, when she bursts into nonsensical songs, speaks in riddles, laughs for no reason at all and appears to argue with herself. She does have a violent streak in her and has been known to lash out if her temper is engaged. Having one on a hair trigger is not a virtue for this young lady in the least. Fiery is one thing, potentially homicidal is another.
This however does not mean that Emily is “evil” or “bad” she is simply there to look out for herself, her friends and her family. She has the capacity to do kind things like empathize with people or express other emotions beyond looking out for herself but its incredibly rare. An empath with issues empathizing points to issues with a mind not strong enough to cope with the images she can see on a daily basis. She hates being touched for this reason and abhors physical contact to the point where she will attack if she feels she’s being cornered or forced to do something she doesn’t want to do. She can be loyal but that loyalty is as fickle as her mood changes and not easy to come by. This is more pronounced as her mental state continues to deteriorate and she grows more paranoid and self-focused. She is easily amused and pleased though and from those she respects highly seeks gratification and praise. It almost appears that while no one can please her she works hard to please everyone else.
Honesty is the best policy for Emily, she hates being lied to. She knows that the people she works for aren’t exactly the good guys but at the same time she doesn’t necessarily care because they don’t bother her and they let her do whatever she wants with occasional requests for certain things. This should rub against her moral center, except morals are hard to define when there are two people arguing inside your head and while she’s not mercenary, as stated before she does seek to look out for number one the most. Not to say that if she saw someone suffering in the street she wouldn’t help them, but they’d better be close to dying otherwise she’d tell them to get up and move on, or help them into the afterlife depending on the mood she’s in. Most of her attitude originated from her father, an absent man who wasn’t hard so much as he had high expectations for his own child and in a childish attempt to live up to those expectations Emily pushed herself farther than she ever thought she could go. Of course it did cost her a bit of her mind and her mood swings are getting more frequent as is the talking to herself but she feels that as long as she’s left alone these problems will balance themselves out, little does she realize that she’s already too far gone to save.
Eighteen years ago Emily Anne Cooper was born to parents Marsha and John Cooper in Connecticut on a warm summer day in June. Her parents were both loving, financially well off individuals so Emily wanted for nothing in her life, however, there was a catch to her idyllic lifestyle. Her father, John was a hard man that demanded perfection from his daughter and Emily was born with an unfortunate need to please those around her. She worked her tail off to get good grades in school, struggling with subjects like literature, writing and philosophy. While math and the sciences came easy trying to wrap her mind around abstract concepts gave her troubles that began popping up in her ability. Born an empath to empath parents Emily did receive training, though her father was rather heavy handed about it, driving the girl to develop faster, better, stronger. His methods unfortunately cracked his daughter’s sanity when she was only ten.
It was slight at first; talking to herself occasionally in a dreamy fashion when she thought no one was around. As the last eight years plodded on the talking became more public, louder and meaner. The maniacal laughter started at fifteen after she accidently hit a dog during a driving test with her father. Perhaps if the man had been able to touch his daughter he would have been able to help her, but by the time she was seven Emily had already developed a deep hatred for physical contact. The maniacal laugher seemed to instill a fear into the man that kept him at bay as he watched his daughter get worse until they committed her at sixteen for observation at a local mental health facility. That was not the best idea he ever had. Forced into an environment where touching was inevitable, Emily experienced visions and emotions that had her screaming at night in her little room. Even though she often spent her night sedated her mind continued to deteriorate to the point where the crack deepened and her second personality became more prominent. Mean, distinctly unpleasant and ambitious the second personality schooled the first into submission, passing her off as improving as she plotted their escape.
Finally the day came a few months later when her parents came to pick up who they thought was their daughter, unknowing that the girl they had raised was a different person. It was to their peril as that night, as retribution for the act of shoving her into what she had come to regard as hell she slipped sedatives into their drinks and set the house on fire as they slept. Then she vanished without a trace, taking what money she could from her parents accounts and keeping herself as low profile as possible. The second personality was crafty, stealthy and could have survived…but it was the first personality’s unfortunate error that she regained control the night something rather….bad happened. An accident, lots of blood, barely surviving to escape into the night, being chastised by that mean voice the claimed if she was in charge none of this would have happened. Emily fought her back, she could stay in control! She ran into Abram and his gang a few days later and the second personality made the executive decision to join him. Emily likes everyone in the gang and seeks approval from Abram frequently but ever since the accident her sanity has deteriorated to the point where there is no second person or Emily, she slips in and out of moments so quickly the mental ill-health has become her life. However, she has yet to discover this and part of her still clings to the belief that she can manage it and overcome it.
