Welcome to Mercy, Colorado. It's a quaint little tourist town. Nothing unexpected if you're just driving by the sign that points you up the rickety looking canyon road.
But if you take the detour, that's something else all together. There's a rusted sign on the outskirts of town that informs any tourists or newcomers that there's a midnight curfew in effect. It's a relic left over from a time when the ordinary humans in the town outnumbered the menacing immortals, when the prey was abundant and easy to hunt. Anyone out after dark was easy pickings and their bodies were never found. Today, though that number has evened, those that live here will still warn tourists to stay indoors when the sun has gone down.
There are now more supernatural beings than ever before, and they have their own lives, their own quarrels, and their own desires to live for...and Mercy is where they've chosen to do it. You'd think the mysterious disappearances and the brutal murders would chase off the tourists, but it happens that a celebrity of sorts was "killed" here some fifty years ago, and there are some die hard conspiracy theorists (the kind of people who see Elvis in every Vegas parking lot and every potato chip) who swear they've seen him walking the streets of Mercy...always by night, of course.
It also didn't help that an aspiring novelist decided to write a book about the place - a book that, despite the fact that the author had never even visited the town herself, wound up on the best seller list and exacerbated the tourist situation in Mercy where tourists now come to see "vampires" and "lycans" and perhaps even hoping to see the glimpses of battle reenactments. The locals weren't exactly happy about that, but what can you do when it's already been done? And now that there's been an announcement that they're making a movie out of the book, well, you can guess what kind of publicity that's generating. The immortals aren't happy, the tourists are way too happy, and the tension is rising.
To make matters worse in the little community, bodies have started showing up again. The mortals think that the wolves are just getting brave, everyone else is starting to point fingers at the Lycans, not realizing that they are completely innocent of the deeds. Something is causing trouble in Mercy again and it's threatening to spark another war, but this time, there isn't going to be a way to keep it under wraps.
Welcome to Mercy Colorado, but don't be fooled...
