Devan is pretty short, standing only at 5‘1 but she carries herself so well that she comes off as being much taller, it helps that she always wear heels with at least three inches on them. She has brown hair and brown eyes, her features are incredibly delicate looking. Of course to think that would be a mistake. She is a small slip of a woman who doesn’t look half her age. Once she opens her mouth though it is immediately visible that she’s very intelligent.
Her appearance tends to attract more men then she wants it to, which is why she tries to downplay her looks as much as possible. Usually Devan will keep her hair up and away from her face and she wears her glasses nearly all the time, although they are just for show. Devan prefers to be overlooked by the male population of Mercy.
Devan is extremely serious about both her work and her hobbies. She uses her time practically and most things she does have a reason behind them. Devan is very self assured and intelligent, most people she meets are intimidated by those qualities. Of course, Devan doesn’t really care what other people think of her because she knows herself and she’s incredibly confident in herself.
Although Devan may come off as reserved when you first meet her she has no problem letting her opinions and thoughts be known to others when the situation calls for it. She has a serious dislike of people who behave as though they don’t have a care in the world. They remind her far too much of her brother who wasted his life and died young. Although at the time she was very much like her brother but his death caused a change in her that still lives strong.
Devan’s father left her mother before Devan and her brother were born. Her mother never really recovered from the loss and turned to alcohol shortly after Devan and her brother were born. Devan spent the first few years of her life in an orphanage, but her mother cleaned up and Devan has no memory of that part of her life. Growing up, Devan was extremely carefree. She was usually found running around town with her brother, Dylan, and his friends.
The night of their sixteenth birthday, they were at a party at a friends house where Dylan decided to show off a new trick he’d learned on his bike. Just as he was finishing the trick he lost control of the bike and collided with a brick wall. He didn’t survive the accident and Devan lost a part of herself that night. She changed so quickly that most people barely recognized her. She became withdrawn and serious, which was the exact opposite of how she’d been before that. Over the years though a lot of people forgot about the person she used to be when her brother was alive and accepted the person she was as normal for her. Her mother died a few years after her brother, but by that point Devan was so numb she didn’t shed a tear at the funeral.
Although when she was younger Devan would go out with a different guy nearly every week, she‘s happier these days being alone. At night she enjoys cuddling up with a book in front of her fireplace and losing herself in the story. When she isn‘t working at the library she spends most of her time in her garden. She loves caring for her plants, it probably has a lot to do with her powers. She has a gift when it comes to anything to do with the earth. When she was younger she felt as though she got the wrong end of the stick when it came to her powers. Her brother had the ability to control fire and she could only help plants grow, but after she lost her brother and she really started working with her ability she came to find that she loved it and it truly was one of the things she loved most about herself.

A little bit about you: I love roleplaying, I‘ve been doing it for over ten years. Currently my favorite movie is Inception, I want to visit Italy before I die.Devan walked through the aisles of the library, putting books away in their correct spot. Her glasses were perched on her nose as they usually wear and her hair was tied back in a ponytail to keep it out of her face. Today was her birthday and she was doing everything in her power not to think about it. It was the one day in her life that she wished she could just sink into her bed and not come out until it was over, but she had work and she had a tradition to fulfill.
Once she was done at work that day she went to the deli and picked up a sandwich before making her way to the cemetery. Laying out a blanket she‘d brought with her in front of her brothers headstone, she sat down and opened her sandwich. A small smile crossed her lips as she reached out and ran her hand over her his name, “Happy Birthday, Dylan.”
After she‘d finished her sandwich and tucked away the trash to throw out later she pressed her hand to the ground and pictured yellow daisies. After a few moment they began to spring up around his gravestone and she smiled. “I know, I know you hate flowers but you know they‘re my favorite.”
Sighing, she laid back across the blanket and stared up at the sky as the sun began to dip down and the moon began to rise. She knew she needed to be getting home soon but this was her tradition, she always stayed until dark so that she could spend her birthday with her brother. When she was younger she used to be frightened to stay out past dark, but as she‘d gotten older she‘d gotten used to the idea. She knew she could take care of herself and the dark didn‘t frighten her as much anymore.
