Will certainly comes across as if he was from a different time period, but that doesn't mean he dresses his age either. He is into everything vintage and his day to day clothing choices certainly get him mixed reviews in the community. Even before death, Will had a great appreciation for items and even people you and I might consider a bit old fashioned or out of place. What some might consider style or an odd fashion statement, his appearance in some sense tells a lot about him and what he values most. As a several century old vampire and touchnopad he certainly can relate to such items, but his unique choices clearly show that he appreciates the history behind everything.
At six foot one, Will certainly isn't short, but whereas one might consider his clothing choices brave, he is actually rather shy. Because of this, he has a habit of hunching down and hiding behind a large book. He is in pretty good shape. He is pretty stocky yet lean. His long extremities give him a very long reach and he has certainly been known to use it to his advantage in the rare case a book mysteriously falls from his beloved shelves or a customer happens to miss a ring on the ladders he has placed around the store to make it easier for those of a shorter height to reach a book just out of their reach.
As a human, Will stood out very little. He was reasonably attractive and despite his appreciation for history, he hadn't fully embraced it nor had the chance to fully embrace it. He had soft brown eyes that didn't really stand out, but if you decided to stare they'd probably draw you in a bit. As a vampire, his eyes now provide a nice contrast to his pale skin that has been unscathed by the sun for too long. The dark brown eyes glow as if a fog was blowing about in them and if you are lucky enough to catch them not blocked by a large book or sunglasses you'll likely be entranced by them.
Let us not forget his hair. Like his eyes, they're dark and provide a nice contrast. His hair, which is often creased in the middle or combed back, is of a medium length and sits just above his shoulders. If he isn't hiding behind a book, he may be hiding behind a few straight tresses of dark hair. He keeps it very clean and it appears to be very manageable as he isn't the type to use an abundance of hair products, preferring to keep things natural.
Despite wearing antique jewelry and often carrying a walking cane, Will isn’t the oldest vampire, nor is he that old. Even though he isn’t the oldest, he prides himself in knowing so much and can come across as a very old vampire because of that. His love of knowledge and history makes him what he appears to be.
William is quite shy and would rather read his precious books than be caught in an awkward social situation. He often comes across as aloof because of his curious nature and touchcog ability. He finds it easier to learn someone’s history by looking at the history of their items which often diverts his attention from the person causing awkward social situations. He doesn’t intend to be this way and in fact is a rather kind vampire. There are times when he’ll speak up just to ask a question that is haunting his mind. If he can’t find it elsewhere, he has no choice, but to ask the person, no matter who they are. This often gets him into trouble, but he means well.
Despite being shy, he has no problem overcoming his fear to speak out when it comes to the truth. He values knowledge and history and because of this has a deep appreciation for the truth. He can be quick with a witty reply and isn’t afraid to argue or point out the apocryphal parts of a person’s conversation even if he himself isn’t part of the conversation. It is at this point, when Will stands out the most as an intellectual and gains his cool points, but he has also gained a few enemies this way as no one likes to be corrected. (Especially Vampires that are several times Will’s age)
Will’s love of history almost defines him and he secretly wishes to plant himself in history and truly live eternally in the minds of those who follow him. Of course, revealing himself publically to the world of mortals would make that easy enough, but he won’t settle for less than a perfect spot in history. He doesn’t wish to hurt his own kind and though he has some historic accomplishments under his belt, he isn’t likely to brag about them. This leads some to wonder what exactly he hopes to accomplish. As a Vampire, there are few things he cannot do and to say he has a lot of time on his hands is an understatement. The question is really in regards to whether or not he has chosen a goal to accomplish and is working on it or if he is still searching. His mostly passive nature makes this difficult to determine, but those close to him are surely wondering.
Will is not exactly a violent vampire and he wasn’t a violent person as a mortal, but he does appreciate challenges and puzzles which has made fighting a strategical game to him. As a mortal he was an avid fencer and practiced diligently. Though he was not the strongest or fastest, he could think much further ahead than his dueling partners and because of this could easily dominate. He did not take up martial arts until becoming an immortal as it was improper for established youth to fight with their fists during the period of England Will was born into. He values honor and chivalry and when he must hunt, he does so quickly. He isn’t the type to play with his food and he does not enjoy the act of killing. He is very precise and aims for the painless kill. He is not defiant of his nature, but believes there is a fine line between vampire and monster.
Born to John and Meredith Howl in 1776 in the charming London area in the city now known as Westminister, William was witness to an interesting period in England. His father was considered lower class as he was an architect, but that all changed when he was commissioned to expand the Buckingham House (it eventually became the Buckingham Palace). The designs he submitted were adopted and the King took a liking to him. Because of this, Will was given many opportunities that other children from his background couldn’t have. He never fit in with the Nobles, but he was allotted the same education and because he knew what it was like to go without, he did his very best to take advantage of it.
Despite the ridicule his higher class schoolmates gave him, he still managed to make a few friends, but he was clearly different. During his mortal life, Will wasn’t shy, in fact quite the opposite. He was on the equivalent of a debate team and participated in theater. He was an elite fencer and he had good marks. He was certainly happy and it was the highlight of his life.
After finishing school, he began working as an apprentice at his father’s firm. Not because he wanted to, but because it seemed like the right thing to do and his father certainly wanted him to follow in his footsteps. Unfortunately the meager work and pay he made working with his father wasn’t enough to satisfy his ever-thirsting mind and he was soon doing all sorts of secret projects. He would seclude himself to his chamber after each day’s work with books, clippings, and often wandered into the streets late at night. Will had an interest in the unknown and it was his thirst for knowledge that made him an immortal despite it being far from his original intentions.
Shortly before Will was born, an infamous group was founded by the name of the Illuminati. Whereas we all know of it today, it was truly a secret society back in the day. Nevertheless, William who had followed his father’s footsteps into freemasonry had a sharp ear and once his curiosity is scratched, he can’t help but look into it. His father urged him to bite his tongue when questioned about it, but Will couldn’t. He learned pretty quickly that asking questions would get him no where so he did some detective work and after a year of solid research he had a strong lead on where the group would be meeting. Before continuing this, I feel it is necessary to point out why Will was seeking the Illuminati. The rumors surrounding the Illuminati were that they were a group of very powerful men who sought knowledge and had the keys to much more than Will could get his hands on with his limited resources. He sought enlightenment and he literally put his life on the line to get it.
Will headed into the night with a cloak and a dagger. He knew his appearance at an Illuminati meeting might not be appreciated and felt the need to be prepared. He walked several miles before finding the alleyway that contained the stairway that would take him into group’s meeting spot. As he descended the stairs, he came face to face with a large iron door which your average person would have great difficulty opening, but he wasn’t about to turn away. He expected more than one obstacle and he used every part of his body to budge the door just enough for him to slip through it. He stepped into a dark tunnel that would have been pitch black had it not been for what seemed to be a small candle near the end of the tunnel. He ran towards the light, his muscles already sore from pushing the door. It seemed the tunnel was much longer than it seemed or at least it formed an illusion that made it come across that way. After what seemed like an hour of solid running, Will came face to face with the light. It was no candle, it was a large fire pit and he was overcome with happiness at the site of it. The Illuminati did not disappoint. Above the pit were two arrows with hieroglyphics. Your average person couldn’t read those, but Will had read a lot of books. He went right as he knew it was the right way to go. The tunnel brought him to a dimly lit room where five cloaked figures surrounded a sacrificial altar where one nearly nude woman sat unconscious. They turned slowly to greet him as if they knew he was coming yet they said nothing. He stepped forward and they matched his step simultaneously. He began to question what was going on, but he knew he was about to die. He felt fear, but instead of fighting it he stepped forward and pulled out his dagger and pulled off his cloak. He had hoped they would do the same and reveal who and what they were and to his surprise they did. They were both beautiful and terrifying and as the vampires, because that is what they were, drained him he smiled. He was not crazy, but he had found something more interesting than he expected and relished the thought of it. They vampires took notice of this and maybe that is why they decided to turn him. After this night, he was never given the chance to ask despite spending many years with them.
He awoke the following night dressed much differently and with feelings, that even to this day, he could not explain. To say it was an adjustment would be an understatement as it took Will nearly the rest of the night to fully process all that had happened and all that he had became. His makers were open to this though they did not openly say so. In fact, they said very little to him that night. The year was 1801 and William Corvus Howl was 25 years old and from that day on he would be frozen in time. To say his makers were abusive and narcissistic would be putting it kindly. They were truly sick monsters that despite having it all wanted more no matter what the cost was. Will was their object of entertainment, their slave, and apparently a punching bag. They did things to him that would drive your average person mad and if it wasn’t for Will’s determination and strong mind he’d have been crippled for life which he soon discovered was going to be quite long. The only good thing that came out of being tortured and mistreated was that he certainly knew his body’s limits. His makers taught him how to inflict pain and he found a way to take everything they sent his way. If he tried to speak or fight back, he was only hit harder, only cut deeper, only starved longer. If the pain they inflicted upon him wasn’t enough, they made him do sick things to other people, mostly mortals and he found his humanity was thrown away like a worn out piece of clothing that no longer fit.
It was in the early 1900s that Will made his escape. He had planned it for quite some time and after fully developing his touchcog abilities, he had gathered all the information he needed to do so. He waited for daylight and made his way into his maker’s library where they kept a collection of the most exquisite items and oldest books. He had been using his precious few hours away from his makers for years to read these books and learn what he could. There were several items that he planned to take with him, a few books, and of course a stunning cane that had a very elaborate history. His makers were heavy sleepers and once they got settled into their coffin-like beds after a long night of heavy drinking they were perfect targets. Unfortunately, the moment you open their coffin they’d smell you and wake up, which posed a big problem for Will. He decided his best bet was to drag their entire coffins out of their chambers and place them in the sunlight. It wasn’t a very easy task, but using his vampiric strength and several contraptions to move the coffins without disturbing their sleep, he managed to pull off the impossible Unfortunately, bringing them into the sunlight would require going out into it as well, but he had planned this far. He wrapped himself in every cloak he could find and kept his head down as he opened the door of his maker’s home and pushed their coffins out into the sun with all the strength he had. He knew being thrown would wake them and he was quite thankful that his maker’s home had a very sturdy door. After tossing them, he shut it quickly and bolted it. It was meant to protect his makers from other vampires and their enemies, but now it was being used against them. He heard them scream as they try to push through the door, but he stood ready. If they made it through, they’d be weak and it’d be the perfect opportunity to use the hidden sword contained in his cane to end them. One after another they tried, but the door was strong and it held until the last of them got to it. He was a bit smarter and used his quick thinking to find the door’s weak spot. As he entered, Will ran forward and beheaded him. Tossing his remains back into the sun before pushing the door back, he began to set the place ablaze using the lanterns that could be found all over and he headed deep into his maker’s chambers where the most protection was offered and he locked himself in. If they survived they’d have no place to run and he’d be able to make it until sunset. Unfortunately, he had to spend the day fearing every noise and was unable to rest.
As night came upon William, he left his deceased maker’s chambers and headed to the port. He would go to the Americas and start a new life like many before him. He spent fifty years by himself wandering from place to place. He heard rumors of a town full of others like him and he went there quickly submitting himself to the coven leader and starting a book store to keep him busy.

A little bit about you: I am a freelance writer and I work as a Production Manager in a large Personalized Stamp company by the name of PSA Essentials (www.psaessentials.com). I like vampires and the supernatural as well as anything unknown to the average person. I’m also a reptile fanatic and I love down South so I’ve been known to catch an alligator or two.Kage was flying towards the Vatican to visit the Pope who had requested he visit him after the incident between Carlisle and Blade. He was not looking forward to it at all and was somewhat annoyed over the fact he had to keep everyone out of trouble. As Kage gets over Rome he heads higher so that no one will notice him. At a higher altitude he can make himself look like an airplane or star if he stays still. Kage noticed a local festival going on below and smiled. He'd always enjoyed watching the humans. They were so easily entertained. It was once his very job to ensure they didn't get into trouble and stayed on a lighted path, but even God would have trouble controlling such a race these days. Their busy bodies going back and forth doing this and that, it was quite amazing how far they had come. Kage soon found a rooftop near the Vatican Church where he could lower himself without being noticed. He could always turn invisible my shaping the light around him, but he was a klutz and knew not seeing his own feet would be bad for his landing. Kage landed on the building safe and unnoticed. He jumped down into an alley and put up his hood. He began heading for the Vatican Church. Kage had made himself late by getting distracted by the festival and could tell the Pope wasn't happy about it. "Greetings your Holiness" Kage said hoping the proper address would please the grumpy old man.
"Come Come Uriel, you know that won't sway my mood. If you'd wanted to be on my good side you'd have been early for once" he said in a heavy polish accent. The Pope led Kage through a passageway hidden behind the Vatican Alter. Kage followed the Elderly religious figure head through several winding halls that weren't quite built for someone of Kage's height. The Pope, who was bent from age, had no problem navigating the passage, but was quite slow about it.
"Uriel, these meetings, are becoming quite difficult for me. Every time Helsing reports a skirmish between an Elder and Hunter, I about have a heart attack. I'm too old for a war. Most people don't even believe in their kind and the world counts on me and I in return count on you. Our little bargain is not only sinful, but would appear preposterous to those who wish to remove me. Please don't let my deepest fear come true Uriel."
Kage who had by now rolled his eyes several times and been on the verge of running away, did his best not to say what he wanted. "Your Holiness, no one died nor did anyone who didn't already know find out about my hellspawn as you like to call them. I have done quite well managing them and preventing unneeded deaths, I ask that you have more faith in my abilities and give me a break. It was Carlisle that stumbled upon on us and I prevented it from turning too ugly. No outsiders were involved. Now may I go ?"
The Pope's stretched face bubbled around and he grumbled a few unmentionables. "Did you talk this way to God, before he threw you out of heaven" the Pope said sarcastically.
Kage didn't like how the Pope said this and has released some of his presence upon the Pope making the old man to step back. "No I did not speak to GOD this way, because unlike you he was all knowing and had a good bit of common sense. If you wish to insult me once more old man, I can arrange a meeting with God where you can ask him yourself." Kage said angrily, his presence continually pushing at the Pope like a large wind against a tree.
"I apologize Uriel.." the Pope said fearfully while he panted heavily. Kage stepped back and turned while pulling back his presence.
"If you insist on reminding me of my past, you should stop calling me Uriel. My earthly name is Kage. I must go.." Kage turned into smoke and removed himself from the church. He waited until he was above a cloud to change back.
