AS THE WORLD SPINS AND DANCES IN MY HANDS LIFES A BEACH IM JUST PLAYING IN THE SAND
"That's a lovely name, Devan," Crispin said with a smile before having a sip of his champagne. Crispin smiled and raise his own glass just slightly when she did hers. Judging by the events and his current company, this was going to be a nice evening.
Crispin's eyes focused on the crowd again when she spoke. She wasn't keeping him from anything. There was no one he needed to speak to or greet out of politeness so he would have been fine staying exactly where he was. Crispin had, during the span of their conversation, been keeping track of the patrons of this social. He made a note of the who was where or at least of those that matter. Humans tended to slip through his radar while other lycans and vampires were kept track of.
Crispin had been around so long that this sort of thing was second nature to him by now. He liked to always know what was around him and it was often of great importance, especially when you were a mercenary and needed to stay under the radar yourself, it helped to know what you needed to avoid.
"You're not keeping me from anything, Devan. Though if you'd like to mingle. I am sure I'll be fine on my own," Crispin said. It was a polite way to check and see if the other person was happy to stay and talk some more. The last thing Crispin wanted to do was to unintentionally keep her here longer than she would like or even leave her with the need to awkwardly make up an excuse to leave.
Crispin had something between a grin and smile when she said she was enjoying his company. He hadn't had a decent conversation with a human in a long time. Most of them tended to go on about topics he couldn't care less about like iCommerce and 'add me on facebook' and all of that.
It wasn't that the world was changing to fast, it was just that Crispin had recently found the time to stop and realize just how different things really were. He still couldn't decide if he liked this modern world or if he missed the Elizabethan era, and the day when he first entered the globe theater and thought that it was the most amazing thing he had seen in his life. Much like the time he was amazed at the black and white television and of course that time when.. Well, the list was very long by now.
"Good, because I'm enjoying your company as well," Crispin said with a smile. He had no intention of leaving her side anytime soon. He was enjoying her company and the conversation was progressing quite nicely. It had been more than he had hoped for this evening.
"Tell me, Devan, what do you do for a living?" Crispin asked, trying to learn more about this mysterious masked lady. He wondered if he might have passed her at some point and thought nothing of it. Most of all, he wondered why he hadn't met her before now. Of course, the only reasonable explanation was that he had never been terribly social when it came to anyone outside of his pack.

she snapped, peeved that he had interrupted her sulky flight to the other side of the gazebo. But as she looked up at him she was struck by the fact that he was very attractive for a human. She suddenly wanted to drink his blood just for the sheer fact that he was so good looking. She nearly slapped herself. What a stupid thing to think! She was over a hundred years old she didn't need to be drooling over some worthless human. Then again Ricky had gone off and ignored her and how nice she looked and that had, for a reason she couldn't even fathom, hurt her feelings. "Sorry, I didn't mean to snap at you, I was just angry because I wasn't watching where I was going." she said quietly. [/ul]

Devan chuckled quietly when Cris told her she had a lovely name, most people just arched an eyebrow when they found out her name. It wasn't one that girls usually sported, but she loved her name. "Thank you,
" A smile gracing her lips once more as she glanced around. There were too many people mingling around for her to be able to pick out someone she knew, but she was fine with that. She was, after all, already engaged in conversation with someone. He seemed quieter then most people she knew. Which was incredibly refreshing and suited her personality perfectly, especially for her mood this evening. Turning her attention back to Cris, she smiled brightly. " I'm fine staying here for awhile. It looks a bit too crowded now, anyway. I don't fancy trying to weave through a crowd like that." She motioned her hand holding the champagne glass towards the crowd. Just looking at how crowded it was made her feel a bit claustrophobic, she wasn't planning on venturing into it anytime soon. She was more likely to retire early and walk through the darkened part of the park towards the street then make her way through the masses. Devan wondered how it was possible she hadn't met Cris before now, but then there were so many people currently residing or traveling through Mercy that she supposed it was perfectly plausible that they'd never crossed paths. Though that was not too likely, she did after all know most of the people residing in the town or at least their faces. She could have seen him around and just not realized it though. Devan did spend most of her time at the library, home, or the Crypt so it wasn't completely crazy to think she'd never run into him. She supposed she ignored most of the inhabitants of Mercy because she was so caught up in her own life. When he reciprocated her words, saying he was enjoying her company she offered him a bright smile. " Glad to know I'm not boring you to tears," She winked slightly through the mask. Devan was a little surprised with herself, she usually didn't tease others, especially someone she barely knew but she was feeling pretty comfortable in his presence. It most likely had something to do with the fact that they were both wearing masks. Raising her hand, Devan pushed a curl back off of her face that had fallen in front of her mask. The mask itself was beginning to get annoying, she should have probably gone the easier route and bought one that wrapped around her head instead of one she had to hold up to her face. She had come across this one in the attic of her house though and since it had obviously belonged to her mother she'd decided to wear it. Taking a sip of her champagne, Devan glanced up into Cris's eyes as he spoke. " I work at Bane's." She smiled as she thought of her job, she knew most people would think her job was boring but she loved it. " And where do you work?" [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Post by ROSEMARY MARCHELINE MOREAUX on Sept 9, 2010 19:40:17 GMT -5
This was positively idiotic. Rosemary watched idly from her place on the quaint little bench overlooking the gazebo as the humans flitted about, giggling and dancing. They were the only ones truly fooled by this masquerade business, and, perhaps, the Elementals, too. As far as her kind and Lycanthropes, well...with hightened senses and clearly different scents wafting from the different species groups and their members, it was obvious who was dealing with who. The vampire could tell easily what was what as they whisked by on various little tasks they'd set for themselves -when it was human, she could practically taste them, while the Elementals tended to hum in the air around them -especially if they could control it. Lycans smelled foul to her -a stench that made her wrinkle her nose and narrow her eyes. No, she was not here to 'mingle', as it were. Rosemary was here because she had to be -as leader of her people, it was her job to be the olive branch to other species and to practice the peace treaty put into place eighteen years ago. As much as she personally disliked some of the terms of the agreement, Julian would not have left her in charge had she not proven that she was willing to atone for her own hand in the conflict. Lionel, too, would have ammunition against her she couldn't afford, if she had done as she liked and not come to this little party. Instead, for the sake of her position and her brood, Rose had dressed to the nines in a deep blue cocktail dress, her long and lean legs cloved in black pumps and her even blacker eyes hidden by a glittering blue masque. She had always been good at playing the game, and like fine wine only bettered with age. At least, that's how she viewed it. Finishing off the cigarette she'd placed on the end of her holder, she flicked it away and then snuffed it with surprising gentleness using the toe of her shoe. It was a nasty habit, admittedly, but when it couldn't kill her and eased stress, she was happy to indulge from time to time. Rosemary rolled a peppermint over her tongue to replace the flavor of tobacco, sucking on the candy for only a moment before spitting it out. The woman then stood, wrapping her small clutch in her palm and strode through the gathering people, sights and smells inundating her senses as she did so. To the casual observer, she merely looked like the elegant outsider, although you'd either have to be stupid or a tourist to not know who she was considering that the very color of her skin set her apart from most permanent Mercy residents. Masquerade, indeed. She cast small, cursory smiles in the direction of those who were either kind enough or ballsy enough to seek to greet her, ignoring the urge to hunt and instead choosing to lurk just oustide the gazebo itself, watching once again. This was going to be a long night.

AS THE WORLD SPINS AND DANCES IN MY HANDS LIFES A BEACH IM JUST PLAYING IN THE SAND
"No, I don't think it would be much fun," Crispin admitted as he watched the crowd for another moment. He didn't like big groups of people either. There was always too much going on and in Crispin's case, being in the middle of that meant that there would be too much going on around him and not being on the edge of the crowd would make it more difficult to keep track of it all.
"At least we have that in common," Crispin added, it was easier when talking to someone who understood and felt the same way about crowds. For some reason anyone too social would try to urge him to join it and that kind of persistence could get annoying after a while.
"I don't think you could, even if you tried," Crispin said. There was just too much about this mystery woman that he didn't know and that alone was enough to perpetuate the conversation. As long as there was something he could ask and something they could talk about, he wouldn't be bored.
"The library. That sounds nice," Crispin replied sounding genuine. There was nothing wrong with a libraries, in fact he enjoyed them quite a lot. He liked to borrow various forms of literature, it was just much easier then buying a book and cluttering up your house, being able to return it in his case was a good thing.
"I've been to Bane's. I think I might have seen you there," Crispin said, trying to picture what she might look like and maybe even see if he recognized her. It was difficult to really tell with the mask covering half of her face but he was sure he couldn't have missed that smile at least. "Have you worked there long?" he asked, hoping to shed more light on this subject.
"At the law firm. I'm a lawyer," Crispin explained. This tended to go two ways. One it was simply accepted, two the lawyer jokes came out. Though in this case he doubted that the latter would happen. Devon simply did not seem like the type. [[this law firm doesn't have a name.. so i'm making it up]]

Post by ALINA TRISTESSA COLLINS on Sept 10, 2010 13:07:45 GMT -5
Alina could not explain why she had decided to come to the human social. Yes, she was a very outgoing type of person, but today the eldest Westbrook brother had decided to trot his little self into her coffee shop and insist that Alina was his perfect mate. He, of course, did not express this in words, but rather by his body language. The silly lycan was half in love with her and could not seem to understand why she didn't recipricate his feeling. He could not understand that, in some small amount, she did yet did not desire to end up like her mother. Alina's mother, Katarina, had mated with someone who was not her true mate and produced a child that later that mate would abandon. Of course, this course of events did lead to Alina's strong bond with both her pack and with the alpha male Andros. Her past, though playing its part in current circumstances, was not the point. The eldest Westbrook brother had gotten on Alina's nerves, thus, in a moment of rashness, Alina had decided to get away from the pack.
Unfortunately, one step into the park and Alina could tell there was more than humans dancing it up in their pretty little masks. Those masks did not help, either, for they skewed the true identity of some of the members of the party. The blonde-haired lycan, though, could not complain for she too had a mask that blocked her features. Looking around the area, Alina could hardly tell one species from another. Yes, she could tell that other species were around, but she was hardly old enough to be intuned with picking them out from a crowd. Her feet delicately moved from the spot she had implanted herself in and walked around the dance floor. Up ahead, a figure sat at a bar with another, a girl. The pair looked awfully similar and it dawned upon Lina that she was staring at the two youngest Westbrook pups. Quickly, Alina ducked into the dancing bodies. Now, on a normal basis, Alina would not hide from Silas Westbrook. For the most part, unlike with his elder brother, Alina got along with the middle Westbrook, but after the incident earlier that day the blonde lycan was not in the mood to deal with anyone that carried the last name Westbrook.
The dance floor was not as crowded as Alina hoped and she could still catch glimpses of the Westbrook pups at the bar and even once imagined that Silas had looked at her, though, of course, Alina was positive that it was only her imagination. Coming out on the otherside, her feet took her back to the enterance of the social in which she had come in. She could still see her coffee shop from where she stood and Parson's outline in the window. How could she like the both of them, Westbrook and Parson? It made no sense to her. Looking over her shoulder, she could still see Silas. It was funny how she had not noticed him from that spot when she entered, but as soon as she recognized him, that was all she could seem to focus on. Then again, it was only due to the fact that he was the only one she recognized. Had Andros been there, and, of course, had she recognized him he would have been the one she kept focusing on. Some went for any member of the pack. Alina only found her focus on Silas ironic considering the previous squirmish she had with his brother.

" Devan stated with a small smirk. It was nice to find someone who hated crowds as much as she did. Most people would try to get her to mingle even though they knew she hated it. Well, that or they'd just give her an odd look and laugh before telling her she was being silly. Taking a sip of her champagne, Devan gave a nod. " Yes, I suppose we do." She smiled and took a moment to glance up at the stars before returning her attention to Cris. Whenever she felt a bit too overwhelmed, looking at the sky helped to calm her down. In its vastness she felt insignificant. Of course she never told anyone that and she wasn't going to start now. " That's always good to hear, I'd be terribly embarrassed otherwise." Devan gave him a teasing smile. She knew that there was something about her personality that tended to draw people in like bees to honey. She wasn't exactly sure what it was, but she'd noticed it in others she spoke to. Of course, she also had another side to her personality that rarely came out but when it did, someone tended to get burned. " Oh, it's lovely to work there." Devan smiled at his sincerity. She didn't care what people thought of her line of work, but she did like to meet people who seemed genuine in their interest. Bane's was a second home to her and one of the places she felt she could truly be herself. " Maybe you have, I work a lot." " A few years," She continued when he asked if she'd worked there long. Time seemed to have flown by since she started work there. Most of her friends called her a workaholic but she just felt so at home with all of those used books. Plus she knew that if she took too much time off the other employees would most likely not look after her plants like they needed to and they'd die. Devan smiled brightly when he said he was a lawyer, " What type of law do you practice?" She'd been interested in law when she was younger, had even thought about studying it but had changed her mind last minute. Her mother had gotten sick and a lot of things had changed for her, she hadn't had the time to do the intensive studying that was required for a program like that. Crispin smiled when she agreed with him. It was nice to find someone who was at least a little more like him in some ways. Crispin watched as she turned her gaze to the sky for a moment and he smirked a little before quietly reciting the a poem he had read a number of times in the past. The words came easily to him and his voice was even and the tone shifted, as though this was a story he was telling her. [[poem here]] He wondered if she might recognize what with being a librarian he assumed that she might be well-read.
Crispin tilted his head just slightly as he looked at her, trying to picture the face behind the mask as best he could. "Perhaps not, I don't think I've seen a librarian with a mask there before," he said teasingly. He wouldn't ask her to remove it but if she had, he did wonder if he might recognize her. Besides, it was all a part of the mystery and he did enjoy it.
"I've been going to the library for," Crispin paused for a second, remembering not to tell her it had been decades because that would have been a little difficult to explain. "a long time," he said instead.
"The firm's general practice," Crispin answered. "But most of what I do is family law, civil rights and criminal law," he explained. He wasn't sure just how much she knew about his field of work but he was happy to explain and talk about it if she had questions. Crispin had worked on almost every type of law there was by now but then he had been doing it for a very long time, just in different places with different names.
He had done a great deal in his lifetime and it was difficult sometimes to not be able to talk about it and share what he knew. He had his pack but most of the time they didn't share the same interests. The younger ones at just over a century weren't usually interested in what life was life back in the old days but by now Crispin was used to not having many people to talk to and reminisce.

When Devan saw Cris's smile she couldn't help but be a bit enchanted, he was obviously a very attractive man. Blushing slightly she brushed off those thoughts and raised the champagne to her lips once more. It seemed to be an easy way to distract herself from her obvious embarrassment. Devan didn't often notice a man, let alone notice how charming he appeared but she felt a slight connection with Cris. Not romantically speaking, per se, but a connection non the less.
A smile danced on Devan's lips as he recited Poe and she closed her eyes for a moment saying the words along with him silently. A few lines from the end of the poem Devan joined in the reciting. "Thou bearest in Heaven at night, and more I admire thy distant fire, than that colder, lowly light.
" As they finished speaking Devan gave him a look that clearly showed she was impressed. " You know your poets, Cris. Poe happens to be one of my favorites." Not a lot of people knew that about her and it made this conversation ten times more interesting to her. It wasn't often she ran across someone as well read as her who didn't seem as though they were showing off their knowledge. A teasing smile alighted Devan's face when he mentioned he'd never seen a librarian at Bane's before that wore a mask. She couldn't help but let out a small chuckle, " I suppose you must have missed me then." Devan wasn't about to move her wrist enough to expose her entire face. She felt half the reason she was having such a good time in his company was because of the mystery and she didn't want to ruin it. Devan's eyes narrowed slightly at his next words because she knew perfectly well what sort of beings lived in her town. It perplexed her twice as much that she didn't know his face at the very least which made him a lycan in her mind. She had at least seen most of the vampires that walked through this town but she'd never been particularly friendly with the lycans. It wasn't that she had a personal preference, it was just that the vampires had always seemed more even-tempered toward her. Then again she may have to rethink her opinions on lycans if Cris turned out to be one. Her conversation with him was entirely too engaging to merely brush off. It didn't take long for Devan to brush the comment off even though her thoughts ran wild. " That must be interesting," She mused when he spoke of his practice. " What does family law entail for you? Divorces? Or do you handle more sensitive cases?" Devan had never taken to family law, but she had studied it fairly thoroughly. If she'd gotten the chance to go to law school and actually graduate she would have preferred criminal law. Not that she wanted to put the bad guys in jail, it was actually quite the opposite with her. She wanted to go into defense work with teens. She felt that they just needed a guiding hand and she wanted to be part of that. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

AS THE WORLD SPINS AND DANCES IN MY HANDS LIFES A BEACH IM JUST PLAYING IN THE SAND
Crispin found he was smiling much more tonight than he had in a very long time. It wasn't to say that he was rarely happy, it was just that no one person had this much of their personality that seemed to fit with his. He got along with most people but there weren't many that he felt a connection with, let alone someone who wasn't lycan. He hardly bother to socialize if he didn't have to. It wasn't that he didn't like to, there was just too much of himself he had to try to hide.
Saying he could be himself completely with a human was something that in his view was imposible, yet here was this woman who he found he had enough in common with and enough that he could share, but then again there was something quite different about her. Something he couldn't quite put his finger on at the moment. Crispin quickly decided that he would think about it later and simply enjoy his time with her for now.
"And one of mine as well," Crispin said. He had many favourites but Poe was always a good read. In fact, he had met the man briefly in Charlottesville before he ever had anything published. Crispin had thought nothing of it and when he first read a collection of poems he hadn't even known they belonged to Poe until a little later. Of course, he tell Devan any of this and again all the millions of things he had seen and done were to be ignored. Crispin instead offered her a half smile. This conversation was still one of the better ones he had had in a while.
"I must have, I doubt I'd forget that shade of red," Crispin added jokingly with a smirk. it was nice to be able to have a nice relaxed conversation and he made a note to have more of those, perhaps even with Devan if he saw her again. Crispin made another mental note to look out for her the next time he was in the library because at least now he had a smile to go on and of course her scent which was sweet and nice and.. Different. In fact the more Crispin thought about it and the more he actually paid attention, there was definitely something about her, something more than human.
"Divorces, yes. Child care and protection, parenting orders, adoption," Crispin explained, allowing his sentence to trail off for a second. "That sort of thing," he finished. There were a number of different cases that were included but with time on his side, there wasn't much he hadn't seen before and it was all mostly routine by now.
Crispin looked at her for a moment as though he were trying to put the pieces of a puzzle together. "What are you, Devan", he thought.. Or had he whispered the words? It was more of a statement than a question. Crispin wasn't sure but even if he had said it, it was something he could easily shrug off should she be nothing more than your standard human being. He hadn't met and elemental in all his years, he had known about them, even contacted one of two indirectly but never in person as far as he could remember so for the moment he was just as little unsure.

Post by CAMERON JEANE LEXINGTON on Sept 13, 2010 16:55:25 GMT -5
Well, what seemed to be a good idea was turning out to be a sour one. Cameron was not finding much of interest at the bar and if he was going to have a good time he was going to need to mingle. He had already finished his first drink and he really wasn't ready for another one just yet, so he decided it was best if he went out an mingled. Thus it was on an impulse that he moved and found himself colliding with a young woman, a rather attractive young woman. Blond by the looks of her though much else was hard to tell considering the mask.
She was a little crisp to start with but seemed to soften up a bit. Cameron let out a light chuckle "It was probably just as much my fault as it was yours. I wasn't looking where I was going either. Is there a way I can possibly make things up to you?" He asked keeping his eyes on the girl. He really had no intent of taking no for an answer he deserved at least a dance with the girl and really wasn't this what these things were about spending time with a complete stranger? It didn't mean one had to spend the entire night with them, and Cameron had no intent of sticking with one girl on the dance floor. "Perhaps a dance proving to one another we aren't as clumsy as we both may seem?" suggested Cameron gesturing to where there were already a few people dancing. It was something to do other than standing around bored at the bar, and really who could blame him for wanting to spend a bit of time what what appeared to be an attractive woman?

A bright smile fell into place when he mentioned that Poe was one of his favorites as well. Some people found Poe to be to depressing to really enjoy but she honestly loved all of his poems, she had since she was in college. "My favorite is 'A dream within a dream',
" Devan stated as she finished her second glass of champagne. She didn't see a waiter nearby so she merely held it for the moment. Devan laughed, " I'm sure you aren't the first to miss it." She didn't it find it odd that he hadn't noticed her while she was at work. Devan didn't go to work to be noticed by the people coming in, she was there to work. In fact, she tended to tune down her appearance to avoid such instances. " I'm sure your job is pretty interesting." It sounded interesting to her and if she wasn't already so happy at the library she might have gone back to school for law. But that ship had sailed and she was perfectly content at Bane's. More then that she actually enjoyed it quite a lot. She had free time to work with her plants and see her friends and she got to spend her day surrounded by all types of books. When she heard Cris mumble a question and she realized what he'd said she took a step towards the crowd and raised an eyebrow at him. " What am I?" Her voice was slightly cold because she wasn't sure exactly how to take that question. Instead of answering she merely offered him a cheeky smirk while taking another step towards the crowd to keep a safe distance between them. " What are you?" Devan wasn't stupid and she didn't expect him to answer the question, but she figured it'd divert his attention for the moment. He didn't seem like someone who would hurt her and certainly not in so public a place but it was better to be safe then sorry. Devan studied him with narrowed eyes for a moment. Crispin nodded when she told him what her favorite one was. "A good choice. Mine's Alone," he explained. For obvious reasons he found he could identify with it quite a bit. Crispin had always been different and in a world dominated by humans, he was always the outsider looking in.
Crispin gave her a half smile. He may have missed her but it wasn't all that surprising. When he did go to the library it was always strictly business. It was all about the research and the reading and Crispin didn't stop to socialize with the librarians. There may be the occasional nod and hello but that was as far as it would go.
"It has its moments," Crispin admitted. Law wasn't the most interesting and exciting things in the world. It did have a few challenging cases but most of the time it was simply paperwork and a lot of writing.
Crispin's lips parted, preempting the need to explain but the words wouldn't come to him so easily. He struggled to find the right words. He hadn't meant to say it out loud and the atmosphere was suddenly thick. He hadn't expected such a change but then it only convinced him that she was in fact something different. The fact that she had taken a step away from him and toward the crowd was slightly worrying but it was quickly followed by a smirk. It confused him, especially when coupled with another step back toward the crowd. Crispin's instincts moved him forward but a little to the side with a very decisive and certain step, as though he were cornering prey but everything else showed that he meant her no harm. He only didn't want her to get away so easily.
"What I am, is curious," Crispin said, turning the question back around. Crispin took another step around the side but not moving closer to her. He allowed the distance because he didn't want her to run off. "What do you think I am?" he asked, immediately regretting the question. What if she did know, what would that mean? Should it matter if she was something different herself? She was no vampire, that much was blatantly obvious to him so how bad could it be?

Devan was a little surprised when he told her which poem was his favorite, but then again she supposed he had his reasons. She offered him a smile, "That one is quite beautiful.
" She had a collection of his poems that she had read cover to cover several times, she knew most of his poems by heart. Offering him a slight smile, she let the subject of his work drop. He didn't seem particularly keen on talking about it at the moment and that was fine with her. Although if he had wanted to continue the discussion regarding what he did she wouldn't have minded. At least he wasn't doing something trivial. His job probably had ups and downs like most but it was an interesting career for anyone. Devan's hand tightened instinctively around the mask she was holding in place as she studied his reaction with narrowed eyes. As his frown turned into a smirk and he took a step towards her but also to the side as though he were circling prey her lips tightened. That alone told her she should end this conversation and withdraw into the crowd, but everything else she saw when she looked at him reinforced what she thought about him not wanting to harm her. For some reason Devan decided to ignore the voice telling her to disappear within the crowd and continued to stare at Cris. Her eyebrow raised and a small unfriendly smile fell into place on her face, " Well you know what they say about curiosity." Devan tilted her head slightly to the side to study him when he asked her what she thought he was, but instead of answering continued with what she was saying earlier. " But you certainly aren't a cat." Devan wasn't sure she wanted to answer his question. Although he didn't seem like he would harm her she wasn't sure she wanted to take the risk. With a sigh, Devan took a small step forward so she wouldn't have to say the following words very loudly. " I think we both know neither of us are quite human." AS THE WORLD SPINS AND DANCES IN MY HANDS LIFES A BEACH IM JUST PLAYING IN THE SAND
Crispin nodded. Most of Poe's work was brilliant. The man had been a great writer so Crispin wouldn't have expected any less from him, even before anything had been published, Crispin could already tell that the young Edgar Allan Poe had potential.
Crispin watched her as the conversation suddenly turned serious. She seemed apprehensive at the very least and he was sure that he might have frightened her at least a little. Still, she stayed and he was glad she did. It gave him a chance to correct it and let her know that he was in fact safe to be around and that he meant her no harm.
Crispin showed a slight hint of emotion at the mention of cats. "Mm, definitely not. I don't even like cats," he admitted. There were exceptions of course and he could usually tolerate big cats but house cats he didn't usually like. He tended to stay away from them or say he was allergic. It wasn't that Crispin had an abnormal dislike, in fact it was very normal. His aversion to cats was no different to any regular human's aversion to the creatures.
Crispin smiled a friendly smile, much like the one he gave her before this happened and he visibly relaxed, going back to simply standing there they way he had before. "Good, glad we got that out of the way," he said. he wouldn't ask her to elaborate because to him it didn't matter at the moment. She was definitely no threat to him and knowing she was something different had satisfied his curiosity enough for the moment. Returning his empty glass to the tray and grabbing a new one as the waiter came past.
"What shall we talk about now?" he asked. "Poe? Law? Books? Or history perhaps? I have a great deal to share about that," he said almost teasingly with a smile that said he knew more than he seemed to admit to. He had been there for over five hundred years of it and although she hadn't admitted to knowing exactly what she was, he assumed that she would at least consider the fact that he might possibly be older than he seemed.
NOW, IF YOU DID NOT NOTICE, MIRA MADE THIS, AND YOU BETTER NOT STEAL IT.. OR SHE WILL BEATCHUU & YOUR ASS TO F*CKING MARS.
